My little mariner looks hungry! Will he get his fish-wish??

Lately while painting and designing I’ve been listening to podcast interviews with authors, illustrators, editors, art directors and agents in the Kid-Lit industry. It’s funny, because today while doing just that , I came across an interview of one of my former teachers, Jarrett Krosoczka in which he said that he also listens to podcasts while he’s working! For years I’ve been listening to music or books on tape or even ‘gasp!’ listening/ 1/2 watching a tv series on Netflix while painting, but I find that I’ve been really driven lately to spread the love that is my portfolio and I’m itching to find any advice or hints that I haven’t yet uncovered or been disclosed. Podcasts are a great way to feel like I’m multi-tasking while designing/painting. Not only do you get to hear first hand from art director’s mouths what they look for in an illustrator or writer, but you also get names of their favorite illustrators that you can compair your own style to. I love that!
